DenBeste Plays Major Role in Gulf Cleanup Effort
After the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig exploded April 20, 2010 in the Gulf of Mexico, many contractors were summoned to lend their expertise for the collection, filtering, transporting and disposal of many millions of gallons of oil that leaked into the Gulf. Denbeste was given immediate consideration for this enormous task because of our experience in the transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous material and our frac tank capabilities. Denbeste was assigned the responsibility of managing and dispatching all assets including the transporting and disposing of all captured and skimmed oil, all decontamination sites and the pumping of oil from ships and barges that arrived at the docks in the states of Alabama, Mississippi and Florida. Since the area of responsibility was considerable, we established “equipment staging areas” in these states as well. The BP oil spill brought many challenges and demands to our response personnel, the onsite staff handled the situation in a professional and responsible manner. All tasks were completed safely and without complications.. Our participation was commended by various government agencies including the Coast Guard, EPA, OSHA, NIOSH as well as BP for our excellent performance under extreme circumstances.
